Another promising avenue is the use of small molecules or pharmacological chaperones designed to enhance residual enzyme activity or stabilize defective proteins. Moreover, advances in neuroimaging techniques facilitate better tracking of disease progression and response to therapies, enabling more personalized treatment plans.

While these innovative approaches are promising, they are often limited by factors such as high costs, limited availability, and the need for early diagnosis. Therefore, ongoing research and clinical trials are essential to develop more effective and accessible therapies. Supportive care remains fundamental, emphasizing quality of life, symptom management, and family support, including genetic counseling for families affected by leukodystrophies.
