Prof. Dr. Deniz Konya

Prof. Deniz Konya is a distinguished neurosurgeon with extensive experience in spine surgery and academic leadership. He completed his medical training at Ege University Faculty of Medicine and advanced his expertise with a diploma from Université Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie. He earned the titles of Associate Professor and Professor in 2001 and 2007 respectively, and has held senior academic and clinical posts throughout his career. From 2010 to 2013 he served as President of the Department of Neurosurgery at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine. He worked as a senior surgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery at Medical Park Hospital in Istanbul and an associate professor of neurosurgery at Bahcesehir University Hospital between 2013 and 2026. Since 2026, he has been working at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital. An active contributor to the field of spine science, Prof. Konya is a member of leading professional organizations including the Turkish Neurosurgery Association, Turkish Spine Association, European Spine Society, North American Spine Society (NASS), AO Spine, IGASS, and the Scoliosis Research Society—being the first Turkish neurosurgeon to join SRS. Prof. Konya’s scholarly output includes 82 international journal publications, 26 national journal articles, 3 chapters in international books, 6 chapters in national books, 37 presentations at international congresses and 101 presentations at national congresses. He has been invited to lecture at 58 international and national meetings and received the TÜBİTAK Research Award for his contributions to neurosurgery and spinal research. Known for combining clinical excellence with research and education, Prof. Konya continues to advance patient care and the scientific understanding of spinal disorders.
