Monitoring disease activity is a vital component of managing TA. Clinical assessment, laboratory markers such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), and imaging studies—including magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), computed tomography a

ngiography (CTA), or positron emission tomography (PET)—are used to evaluate vascular inflammation and detect new lesions. Regular follow-up enables early identification of relapses and adjustment of therapy accordingly.

Surgical and endovascular interventions play a role in managing structural vascular damage, such as critical stenosis or aneurysms. These procedures are typically reserved for cases where medical therapy cannot adequately control symptoms or prevent ischemic complications. Timing of intervention is critical, often performed during periods of disease remission to reduce the risk of procedural complications.

The overall prognosis of Takayasu Arteritis continues to improve with advancements in diagnostic imaging, immunosuppressive therapies, and personalized treatment strategies. However, the disease’s chronic nature necessitates lifelong surveillance and management to optimize quality of life, prevent complications, and address relapses promptly.
