Some primary immunodeficiencies are classified under well-established categories, such as common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), X-linked agammaglobulinemia, or Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). Each has distinct genetic causes and clinical features, emphasizing the importance of precise identification for optimal management.

Management of primary immunodeficiency focuses on boosting the immune system’s capacity to fight infections and prevent complications. Treatments may include regular immunoglobulin replacement therapy, antibiotics for infections, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in severe cases like SCID. Additionally, patients often require ongoing monitoring to detect and address autoimmune manifestations or other secondary issues.

Understanding primary immunodeficiency is vital because early diagnosis can dramatically improve quality of life and reduce the risk of serious infections and other complications.
