Maintaining good oral hygiene, preventing secondary infections, and managing pain are critical components of supportive therapy. Nutritional support might be necessary if mucosal involvement impairs eating, and careful wound care reduces the risk of infections.
Monitoring treatment response involves regular clinical assessments and laboratory tests, including antibody titers, to evaluate disease activity. Patients are also screened for medication side effects, especially when using immunosuppressants. Vaccinations, such as influenza and pneumococcal vaccines, are recommended to prevent infections in immunocompromised individuals.
