Visual aids and educational support are also vital as vision loss advances.

Emerging treatments are on the horizon, including enzyme replacement therapy, gene therapy, and small-molecule drugs designed to target the underlying genetic defects. For example, clinical trials investigating enzyme replacement for specific Batten subtypes offer hope for altering the disease course. Supportive care, including nutritional support and respiratory management, is essential in later stages to prevent complications.
