Quantitative factor assays determine the exact amount of clotting factor VIII or IX in the blood. It’s important to recognize that the diagnosis of hemophilia isn’t solely reliant on laboratory tests. Clinical correlation is crucial, as other conditions like von Willebrand disease or other coagulation factor deficiencies may present with similar symptoms but require different management strategies. Accurate diagnosis ensures tailored treatment, which may include replacement therapy, prophylactic medication, or newer gene therapies.
