Diagnosis of Neurosurgical Disorders

Each successful treatment starts with the accurate diagnosis. ACIBADEM Pediatric Nerosurgery Center is equipped with all the latest technologies for correct diagnosis of neurosurgical conditions in children. PET, SPECT, EEG, CT, USG can be used for precise diagnosis.

ACIBADEM has some of the most advanced 3 Tesla MRI models available today: Siemens Vida and GE Premier. The 70 cm patient bore allows children with claustrophobia to be scanned comfortably. The devices provide higher efficiency and enhanced workflow, and improve the image quality up to eight times. Current MRI technology is so advanced that it can show all brain disorders in the MRI scan. It makes visible the location of vessels and their course in the tumor. Moreover, it can show the extent of how much the vessels feed centers responsible for a certain function. A well-equipped radiology unit using a high-resolution 3 Tesla MRI can set a precise diagnosis with MRI scan alone in most of the cases, and this is a routine procedure in ACIBADEM.

Computer-assisted Three-Dimensional Gait Analysis Device is used to detect and determine gait disorders, especially those related to neurologic, orthopedic, and rheumatologic problems.

The multidisciplinary team of ACIBADEM Pediatric Neurosurgery Center treats all neurosurgical pathologies in children, with special expertise in:

Pediatric Hematology & Oncology

Pediatric Allergy / Immunology

Pediatric Rheumatology Unit of ACIBADEM Kayseri Hospital deals with diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with rheumatoid disease. Rheumatoid diseases imply local and systemic diseases of musculoskeletal system and it covers a very wide range of diseases. Interventional Pediatric Cardiology

surgical treatment that involves inserting a thin, flexible tube called a catheter through a blood vessel to the heart, under x-ray guidance. It can be used for both diagnosis and treatment. When used to fix a heart defect, the procedure is called interventional catheterization. This procedure allows experienced physicians to treat certain heart disorders without surgery. Once the catheter has reached the heart defect, tiny tools can be delivered through it to repair the defect. For example, balloon catheters can be used to open narrowed valves or vessels, and some catheters can close holes between the chambers of the heart. Therapeutic interventional procedures include:

  • Balloon angioplasty and valvuloplasty: A catheter with a balloon at the tip is inserted to open a narrowed heart valve or vessel.
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement: An artificial valve is inserted using a catheter instead of via open-heart surgery.
  • Transcatheter ASD and VSD closure: Septal defects can be repaired using catheterization techniques.
  • Endovascular stenting can be used to expand narrow vessels.
  • Electrophysiology and transcatheter arrhythmia ablation can be used for the treatment of heart rhythm problems through cauterization (destruction by heating) of a small tissue using radiofrequency ablation.
  • Hybrid procedures and MAPCAs occlusion: Hybrid cardiac procedures are usually used for complex heart conditions.

Cardiac catheterization is performed under anesthesia, but it does not require a surgical incision and allows for fast recovery and a short hospital stay. There are no age restrictions; it can be used for small children and infants immediately after birth.
